APPROVED Chemical Engineering TECHNICAL ELECTIVES
For the degree B.S. in Chemical Engineering
with Concentration in Chemical Engineering

Academic Year Fall 2009 - Spring 2010

As of June 2009 the Technical Electives (TE) have changed for all ChBE student regardless of the matriculation year. If a course was taken prior to June 2009 and was on a TE list, then it may be used. If you are unsure of what will be allowed please check at the SCS Academic Advising office in room 168 Noyes Lab.

At least 18 hours must be selected from this approved list, satisfying these distribution requirements:

  1. CHBE (400-level other than 497 or 499)….(3 credit hrs.)
  2. CHBE (400-level may include 499 or 497)….(3 credit hrs.)
  3. Any 400-level course from list….(3 credit hrs.)
  4. Any course from list….(6 credit hrs.)
  5. IE 300….(3 credit hrs.)

If you have taken STAT 400 prior to Summer 2009, you do not need to take IE 300. A maximum of 10 total hours of undergraduate research may be counted toward Technical Elective credit.

Those courses approved as technical electives are listed below. Courses other than those listed will not normally be accepted as technical electives (see Notes below). Any exceptions must be approved by the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. A student requesting an exception must submit a petition to the Department. Go to 209 RAL to obtain a petition form, fill it out, have your advisor sign it, and submit it.
