Assistant Professor Charles Schroeder has been named a Beckman Fellow in the Center for Advanced Study for 2014-15 at the University of Illinois.
Schroeder was selected for his research proposal, “Molecular Design and Engineering of Materials for Advanced Functionality.” Schroeder and his team of researchers are working to develop new methods for synthesizing sequence-defined polymers and for studying polymer dynamics using single molecule imaging.
The Center for Advanced Study (CAS) supports the extraordinary human and physical resources of the University of Illinois by encouraging and promoting exemplary scholarship in all areas of knowledge. One of the primary missions of the Center is to identify the very best scholars at the University. CAS professors are permanent members of the center, appointed after a rigorous nomination and election process; these appointments are among the highest forms of campus recognition.
Schroeder’s appointment is pending approval by the Board of Trustees.
