Illinois’ AIChE student chapter receives honors

The University of Illinois’ student chapter of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) was recently recognized with the “Outstanding Student Chapter Award” at the 2011 AIChE Annual Student Conference.
The award is presented annually to student chapters that show an exceptional level of participation, enthusiasm, program quality, professionalism and involvement in the university and community.

The president of the Illinois chapter is Andrew Cuthbertson, a senior, and the faculty advisor is Assistant Professor Brendan Harley.

“This award is a really nice acknowledgement of the hard work the members of our AIChE chapter have put in to provide expanded and improved services to the undergraduates in our department,” Harley said. “Their social activities as well as mentoring and professional development programs have had a very positive impact on our student population.”

Also at the conference, University of Illinois student Manasi Dave received the Freshman Recognition Award, for themember in each student chapter who has been the most active in their chapter during their freshman year.
