Ray A. Mentzer Scholarship
This scholarship was made possible by the Dr. Ray A. Mentzer Scholarship Fund. After receiving his bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from the University of Illinois in 1974, Mentzer went on to earn his master's and doctoral degrees in chemical engineering from Purdue University. He enjoyed a 28-year career with ExxonMobil, working around the world and in various areas, including oil and gas facility design and operation, research, financial management, safety, health and environment, and public affairs. His last position with Exxon was the Global Upstream Safety, Health, and Environment Manager. He lectured at Texas A&M before he returned to Purdue University as the associate director of the Purdue Process Safety & Assurance Center. He continues to be engaged with process safety research projects, downhole drilling safety, risk management, and more.
Awarded to chemical engineering students with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
