The Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering continues to grow and diversify its capabilities, this time with new personnel. Please welcome M.Eng. Graduate Program Coordinator Anne McKinney and Assistant Professor Alexa Kuenstler to the ChBE community.
Alexa Kuenstler - Assistant Professor
Alexa Kuenstler joined the ChBE faculty as an assistant professor on January 1, 2023. Kuenstler earned a B.S. from the University of Rochester in 2015, a Ph.D. from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2020, and finished a post-doctorate from the University of Colorado Boulder in 2022. Kuenstler's work investigates responsive polymeric systems and additive manufacturing of soft materials.
Anne M. McKinney - M.Eng. Graduate Program Coordinator
In December 2022, Anne M. McKinney joined the department as the new M.Eng. Graduate Program Coordinator. McKinney has spent the past five years as the Program Manager for the Miniature Brain Machinery NSF-NRT grant program, which includes faculty and students from CHBE. Before that, she served in other departments across the Urbana campus since 2007 and the Springfield campus since 2001. She will primarily support the new M.Eng. Master's degree program and the existing doctoral program.
