Chemical and biomolecular engineering teaching assistant professor Ryan Mullen is a recipient of the 2025 Student Success Impact Award from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. This award recognizes faculty and staff nominated by students via the Chancellor's Senior Survey.
“[Mullen’s] dedication, innovative approaches, and unwavering commitment to enhancing the student experience have left an indelible mark on our academic community,” said Dean Venetria Patton.
Mullen joined the department in 2022 and teaches CHBE 431 (Process Design) and CHBE 412 (Computational Tools in Chemical Engineering). He has a strong academic background in statistical mechanics, rare-events theory and molecular simulation. He earned a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from the University of California, Santa Barbara and, prior to joining ChBE, worked as a staff scientist at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.
Mullen will be honored at the 4th Annual Student Success Symposium on Thursday, February 6, 2025.
