ChBE welcomes back Kit Gordon, BS '83, as convocation speaker

Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at Illinois is pleased to announce that Kit Gordon, Class of 1983, is this year’s convocation speaker. After graduating from Illinois, Gordon went on to a successful career in the semiconductor industry in Silicon Valley. She also co-founded a natural cosmetic company and advises organizations in water resource management.

An Illinois native, Ms. Gordon earned a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Illinois in 1983. She has 15 patents on amorphous silicon anti-fuse technology obtained during her work at QuickLogic Corp., where she served as Director of Technology until 1999. She earned a master’s degree in electrical engineering in 1989 and an MBA in 2001, both from Santa Clara University. She retired from industry soon after QuickLogic went public on the NASDAQ and is now involved with several agencies and non-profits in water resource management. She is married with one child and enjoys spending time in nature.

The Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering Convocation will be at 10 a.m. Sunday, May 15, in the Tryon Festival Theatre in Krannert Center for the Performing Arts. Campus commencement is Saturday, May 14.
