Patricia Simpson, Director of Academic Advising and Career Services for the School of Chemical Sciences, was recently honored with the Golden Shamrock award by the 2016 Knights of St. Patrick.

The Golden Shamrock award is given to a staff member who supports students of the College of Engineering, an individual who has demonstrated leadership and service, who has contributed to the enhancement of student activities, and maintained a high level of character. Simpson is believed to be the first Shamrock recipient not employed by the College of Engineering to receive the award.

Simpson joined the University of Illinois’ School of Chemical Sciences in August 2007.

The Knight of St. Patrick is an annual award given by the College of Engineering to approximately 10 to 15 students who represent leadership, excellence in character, and exceptional contribution to the College of Engineering and its students. The award is one of the highest honors received by a student from the College Of Engineering.
