Archana Verma, ChBE PhD candidate, received the 2025 Women in Chemical Engineering (WIC) Travel Award from the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE). This award is intended to assist female graduate students, post-doctoral associates, early-career individuals and young professionals with travel expenses to the AIChE annual meeting. Verma will present her poster, “Assessing Molecular Doping Efficiency in Organic Semiconductors,” at the WIC Breakfast, which in addition to a Poster Session, features a keynote speaker, professional development panels and a forum for networking with other women in the chemical engineering community.

Verma’s research focuses on the use of Reactive Monte Carlo and Density Functional Theory techniques as a step towards simultaneously modeling the quantum-mechanical and material-scale processes involved in generating and transporting charges in doped organic semiconductors . She is advised by chemistry professor Nick Jackson.

Verma said she is thrilled to receive the WIC Travel Award and will continue her efforts to contribute to building an inclusive STEM community.

“Receiving this award acknowledges not only the hard work I’ve put into DEI initiatives throughout graduate school, but also as a direct reflection of the support and mentorship I’ve received along the way,” Verma said. “Being recognized for this work is both an honor and a reminder that there is always more to be done, and I am committed to continuing this journey of service. I believe that by staying true to these values, I can help contribute to a future where the STEM community is as diverse and inclusive as the society it serves.”
