Kraft promoted to full professor

Associate Professor Mary L. KraftMary L. Kraft has been promoted to full Professor in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering (ChBE) at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, effective August 16, 2023.

Kraft has been on the ChBE faculty since 2007, where she teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in biochemical engineering, and probability and statistics. Her research focuses on combining machine learning and other computational approaches with chemical imaging techniques to enable quantitative single-cell analysis with location specificity, with applications to various research areas including algae-bacteria interactions, biofuel production, tissue engineering and influenza virus infection.

Kraft graduated with a B.S. in Biochemistry from the University of Illinois Chicago in 1998 and earned her Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2003. Before joining the ChBE faculty, Kraft was a Postdoctoral Fellow at Stanford University.

She is affiliate faculty in the Department of Chemistry and the Micro and Nanotechnology Laboratory.
