The Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering is pleased to celebrate the academic achievements of its students by holding convocation ceremonies.
Spring 2020 convocation
When: 10 a.m., Sunday, May 17, 2020. Doors open at 9 a.m.
Where: The ceremony will be in Tryon Festival Theatre, Krannert Center for the Performing Arts, 500 South Goodwin Avenue, Urbana. A reception will immediately follow the ceremony in Centennial Plaza, the area between Noyes Lab and Chemistry Annex.
Speaker: The spring convocation speaker will be announced later this semester.
Students, once you’ve registered, you’ll need to do the following:
1. Report your future plans to Career Services. Fill out the section on future plans, print the confirmation page, and bring or send it to the ChBE undergraduate program office in Room 99 RAL.
2. Complete the department’s senior survey, via this link.
3. Order your cap and gown through Herff Jones. Regalia is required for the convocation ceremony. Don’t wait to order regalia; deadlines and late fees are set by the vender.

What time do I arrive and where?
Students should arrive by 9 a.m. and meet in the backstage hallway of Tryon Festival Theatre. Doors will open at 9 a.m. for family members.
Is flash photography allowed during the ceremony?
Yes, we encourage your family to take photos. They can come to the front of the stage but are not allowed on stage.
Is videorecording allowed during the ceremony?

Winter 2019 convocation
The department held a winter convocation ceremony at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, 2019, in the Lincoln Hall Theatre, 702 S. Wright St., Urbana. The speaker was Dan Hanus (BS ’86) , a section head at Procter & Gamble who also has an MBA from Xavier University.
A reception was held immediately after the ceremony in Latzer Hall in the University YMCA, 1001 S. Wright St., Champaign, across the street from Lincoln Hall.
